The Washington Commanders added a new running back option following the decision to place Jeremy McNichols on IR.

Washington Commanders running back Jeremy McNichols suffered a potentially season-ending foot injury during this past Sunday's Week 8 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The Commanders officially placed McNichols on injured reserve Tuesday, seeing him join fellow injured running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt. This IR move for McNichols left the Commanders with just two veteran RB options: Rachaad White and Austin Ekeler.

Washington added a third running back option on Tuesday, claiming rookie ball carrier Robert Henry Jr. off the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad. Henry signed with the Commanders after going unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Seahawks signed him off the Commanders' practice squad in early October.

Washington notably released running back Kaytron Allen, a sixth-round draft pick, earlier this year. Allen is now a member of the Miami Dolphins. The Commanders are 2-4-1 coming off Sunday's primetime win over the division-rival Eagles.

Now, they'll look to maintain their positive momentum into Sunday's Week 9 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Sunday's Rams-Commanders matchup will kick off at 1 p.m.
