The Dallas Cowboys have been active this preseason in building what appears to be a team capable of competing for a championship. Most recently, they added veteran pass rusher Von Miller, a surefire future Hall of Famer who may be on the tail end of his career but who brings years of playoff and Super Bowl experience to the squad. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com that Miller's experience will be invaluable.
"You get someone that's been there and done that," Jones said of adding Miller. "He trains with our consulting trainer [B.T. And boy, [Jordan] had been telling us for all this past year, 'Boy if we could get [Miller],' he knew first hand because he works with him all the time and knew that he could help us.
And of course, that trainer is working with all of our guys. We feel real good…" "We've really been communicating with him for a lot of weeks here. [Jordan] couldn't say enough good things about what kind of shape he's in, how much quickness he has, how he thought he could really help us." But if Cowboys fans think their roster is set for the upcoming season, they should brace themselves for a possible trade. Jones is still not satisfied, saying he "would be" open to a substantive trade still.
"It's as much about what I think of where we are, which I'm more positive than when we started camp, seriously, about what our chances are. And so I think if we saw an opportunity to take a little of the future and put it on this team, I'd do it if it would help us," he said. That echoes what Jones said earlier this preseason.
Something substantive to get the right kind of deal to improve us opening day. I feel that good about this team, this year," he said. That tracks, given that his roster boasts the excellent wide receiver duo of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, quarterback Dak Prescott and a defense anchored by star defensive lineman Quinnen Williams and rookie safety Caleb Downs.
The only question is, who will the Cowboys look to add next?
