Five years ago, the New York Knicks took a chance on a second-round guard out of West Virginia. Today, Miles McBride is their longest-tenured player. He's also part of the group that finally hung a banner at Madison Square Garden.
But winning comes with a bill. The Knicks have big money tied up in their core and they will not cross the second apron. Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart need new deals too.
So where does that leave Deuce? Knicks beat writer James L. Edwards III of The Athletic shared McBride's latest comments on his contract talks on X.
"Obviously I love being in New York. I'd love to continue my career and end my career here," McBride said. Pushed for more on where the talks stand, he kept it short.
"I'll let the front office and my agency handle that," McBride said. That's a calmer tone than he carried last week. Speaking to Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News, the 26-year-old admitted the wait had worn on him.
"I'm a little disappointed. Of course, you want to obviously come to the right terms, and I want to be in New York. So yeah, it's a little hard at times, but I'm gonna be a professional," McBride said.
