Before I turn the flamethrower on those who are about to burn, let’s make a few things clear first. If you’re an adult with children, and you can afford to, go to Disney World. Get nostalgic for the movies.
Have the best family time—that’s the whole point. The same goes for anyone with a developmental disability. Disney World is your playground, so have at it.
Make memories that’ll last your whole life. But if you’re a grown adult to whom none of the above applies? And you’re at Disney World?
Take a long, hard look at yourself. I bet you use the word "adulting," don’t you? I feel sick even writing it.
Throw the Mickey ears in the trash, go home, and grow up. We have raised a generation of Lost Boys and Girls who are so bewildered by the demands of modern life, and so psychologically unequipped for adulthood’s struggles, that they succumb to the narcissism of self-infantilization. Now, these aging millennials, a group to which I regrettably belong, are competing with children at Disney parks for the best view of someone in a costume pretending to be a character from an animated movie; or worse, dressed as a teenage princess.
Personally, I would keep my children away from this genre of adult. These Disneydults (dolts?) will tell you it’s all innocent, and why can’t grown-ups enjoy frivolity, and have you even tried the food there? They’ll point out that Star Wars is now a Disney franchise, or say Toy Story was some kind of formative work for them.
