The Los Angeles Dodgers provided a promising update regarding Shohei Ohtani ahead of their series against the Cincinnati Reds. While speaking to reporters, including MLB.com's Sonja Chen, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts shared that he expects Ohtani to be in the lineup for their Monday game against the Reds. "My expectation is he'll be in the lineup tomorrow," Roberts said about Ohtani.
Ohtani has missed each of the Dodgers' last four games due to left knee and right biceps discomfort. Yet, with this latest update from Roberts, it appears that the star slugger is feeling ready to return to action. Ohtani's most recent appearance for Los Angeles was on Sep. 2 against the St.
Louis Cardinals, where he went 0-for-4 at the plate and struck out four times. He also went 1-for-11 in his last three appearances with six strikeouts. Clearly, Ohtani's injuries were affecting him, and the Dodgers will be hoping that he will heat back up after getting some much-needed rest.
In 129 games so far this season with the Dodgers, Ohtani has posted 30 home runs, 80 RBI, and a .279 batting average. The nine-year MLB veteran remains an incredibly important part of the Dodgers' roster, and it will be interesting to see if he can bounce back once he officially returns to their lineup.
