Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye came off the board with the top three picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. On Thursday night, Williams and the Chicago Bears will face off against Maye and the New England Patriots in a primetime Week 7 matchup. When asked about Williams on Tuesday, Maye heaped praise on the former No. 1 overall pick.
He’s special in the way he can move and kinda escape and evade pressure. [Him] throwing on the run is pretty cool to watch," Maye said. "I don’t know if I’m that shifty in the pocket. He can do some cool things.
He’s got crazy arm talent and it’s fun to watch. I don’t know if I’m that flexible to try some of those things, but I think the way he plays the game is cool. "I know he’s doing a great job and I know in Chicago he’s got the city on the watch.” Williams returned to the field for the Bears this past weekend following a three-game absence with a hamstring injury.
In his first game back against the Atlanta Falcons, he completed 30 of his 36 pass attempts for 305 yards and a touchdown in a 31-23 win. Following a slow start to the 2026 season, Maye has once again found his stride as one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the league. In Sunday's Week 6 win over the New York Jets, last year's NFL MVP runner-up threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns.
Thursday's Patriots-Bears matchup will kick off at 8:15 p.m.
