The Philadelphia Eagles are trading away a two-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman one day after right tackle Lane Johnson retired.

The Philadelphia Eagles offensive line is under construction this week. On Tuesday, right tackle Lane Johnson decided to retire before the Eagles are set to play the Jacksonville Jaguars in London in Week 5. Johnson missed Philadelphia's loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4 due to personal reasons.

On Wednesday, the Eagles pulled off a stunning trade with the Baltimore Ravens. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Philadelphia is sending Cam Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Ravens in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick. "Trade: Eagles are sending two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens and a 2027 7th-round pick to the Ravens in exchange for a 2027 5th-round pick and a 2028 2nd-round pick, sources tell ESPN," Schefter posted on X.

Baltimore had two centers, Jovaughn Gwyn (ankle) and Ethan Pocic (knee) suffer injuries in a Week 3 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Danny Pinter suffered a torn patellar tendon in training camp that ended his season.

Center had been a point of emphasis for the Ravens in the offseason after Tyler Linderbaum signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency. The Eagles are building up draft capital for 2028. They'll have two first-round picks (thanks to the trade that sent A.J.

Brown to the New England Patriots) and two second-round picks. However, the Eagles do have depth concerns on the offensive line after losing Johnson and Jurgens. Philadelphia could turn to Willie Lampkin to start at left guard.

Jurgens, a second-round pick in 2022 by the Eagles, has made 45 starts and appeared in 62 games. Per Pro Football Focus, Jurgens was graded as the second-worst guard through the first four weeks. He signed a four-year, $68 million contract extension with Philadelphia in 2025.
