We might have said goodbye to Hawkins, but that doesn’t mean we know everything when it comes to the Upside Down. On Stranger Things Day aka November 6, Netflix dropped a big surprise when they announced a brand-new spin-off series, Other Worlds. Only this time we’re not going to be heading back to Indiana, nor are we seeing anything that happened after the series ended.
Instead, the brand-new sequel is actually a prequel and we’re going to be uncovering way more than we ever imagined. Here’s everything you need to know about Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure. Yes, Netflix revealed on November 6, 2026—also known as Stranger Things Day—that a brand new prequel series, Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, was in the works on the streamer.
Like most things in the Stranger Things universe, Netflix is keeping a lot of the details under wraps. However, we did manage to get some major clues in the teaser and initial announcement that they sent out to press. The series will go back in time—April 18, 1955, to be exact—and several states away from Hawkins, Indiana, to Marion, Nevada.
Bigger details are still being kept a secret, but since it goes back even before Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which showed the origin of Henry Creel/Vecna, we’re probably going to learn a lot more about the Upside Down’s beginnings. In a press release co-creators/executive producers Matt and Ross Duffer said, “We can’t wait for you to see what they’re cooking up. It’s Stranger Things, but also thrillingly fresh, with a new setting, new heroes and villains, and new… actually, we’re not allowed to say any more.” Casting hasn’t been announced and neither have the characters.
In the initial press release sent over, the Duffer Brothers noted that it was next in their process, so we’ll definitely be hearing some more news soon! No official release date has been announced just yet, but it was revealed that filming will be starting up in New Mexico soon and that the series is slated to premiere in 2028.
