The Indiana Fever are among the hottest teams in the WNBA right now, and much of that is thanks to their extraordinary guard, Caitlin Clark, who put together an incredible, historic stretch statistically. On Tuesday, the WNBA revealed that Clark was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for her contributions to the Fever's success. Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles was named Western Conference Player of the Week.
Both teams are on four-game winning streaks, with only the Golden State Valkyries' six-game win streak hotter. During the Fever's past week, Clark averaged 25.7 points, 9.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game. She also shot an impressive 50.9% from the field, showing her ability to take and make efficient shots.
Add in that the nearly 10 assists per game over that week, and it shows her playmaking skills, setting up her teammates for ideal scoring opportunities. "CC POTW (again) Caitlin Clark is your @WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this season," they shared in a message with the X post.
Another of their shares is a video featuring Clark's highlights and various sound bites from her head coach, Stephanie White. Their accompanying Fever message calls her "maestro CC" and touts her impressive statistics across the week. Yesterday, the Fever revealed that Clark's past 11 games featured her averaging 26.3 points, 9.4 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.
They noted that no player in WNBA history had more games with 26-plus points and nine-plus assists in an 11-game stretch than Clark. And amid that, the Fever (23-12) are working towards the main goal of competing for a championship. Their four-game win streak put them into fourth place in the WNBA standings, and they're only a half-game behind the Las Vegas Aces (24-12), who are third overall.
This season's really been a much healthier and more successful season than what she experienced in her sophomore campaign with the Fever. It's become clear that she's emerging as a potential all-time great in the WNBA with each new record she sets and award she wins. Clark previously won Eastern Conference Player of the Month in June and is trending towards another win this month.
