Joe reboot is expected to premiere in movie theaters in late 2028. Unfortunately, not all news is good; Paramount has also pushed back the next installment in the Paranormal Activity horror series by six months. Danny McBride, best known for his role in comedy movies, has directed for television.
However, he will now make his feature-film directorial debut with the next iteration of the G.I. After working on The Righteous Gemstones together, Danny McBride, John Carcieri, and Jeff Fradley teamed up to write the screenplay. Even though casting has just begun, Bradley Cooper has been brought on board to play Duke.
McBride has described the movie as a fun, suspenseful action flick set in Springfield, a Cobra-run small town. Beyond that, few details are known about the upcoming G.I. Joe reboot, as it's still in the early stages of development.
Despite this, Paramount has disclosed a release date. Moviegoers can expect Danny McBride's G.I. Joe to hit theaters on Oct. 20, 2028 — nearly two years from now.
Paramount Pictures also moved Paranormal Activity 8's release date. While it was initially scheduled for May 21, 2027, it has now been pushed back five months. Fans were excited to return to Katie and Micah's house nearly two decades later, but it seems that they will have to wait a little while longer.
Undertone's Ian Tuason is directing the movie with assistance from original director Oren Peli, James Wan, and Jason Blum, as producers. Tuason is confident in his ability to take control of the franchise; he wants to focus on the elements that made the first three movies great in order to create a "hybrid that's going to define the found-footage genre." With the delay, Paranormal Activity 8 is now set to release on Oct. 22, 2028 — nearly a year before the release of the G.I. On the bright side, moviegoers have the perfect horror flick to watch in theaters next Halloween.
