Odell Beckham Jr.'s reunion with the New York Giants this season was short-lived, after Big Blue released the three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver on Tuesday. OBJ's familiar No. 13 jersey is still being represented at Giants practice, however. Dan Duggan of The Athletic noted that backup quarterback Jake Haener has already cycled through a host of uniform numbers this season since signing with New York in August.
Haener was waived by the team on Monday to make room for new signal-caller J.J. McCarthy but cleared waivers and re-signed to the Giants' practice squad on Tuesday. Beckham Jr. sported No. 13 for his entire five-year stay with New York from 2014 to 2018 and kept the digits during his two-plus seasons with the Cleveland Browns from 2019 to 2021.
He wore No. 3 while with the Los Angeles Rams (2021), Baltimore Ravens (2023) and Miami Dolphins (2024), before returning to the familiar jersey when he re-joined the Giants in June. Beckham Jr. made New York's season-opening active roster but was barely used in the Giants' first three games of the year. The 2014 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year finished his second stint in New York with no receptions on just one target while playing only 20 snaps.
