The New York Giants and Washington Commanders ended their Week 5 matchup with a bizarre 27-27 tie. Neither team was able to score in overtime. Giants running back Cam Skattebo fumbled while fighting for yardage well within field-goal range, and Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels went down on an ill-advised scramble with no timeouts remaining.
While the Giants didn't come out with the result they hoped for, they did get some encouraging production from star wide receiver Malik Nabers. Nabers, who publicly expressed his desire for more targets earlier in the week, reeled in 11 catches for 121 yards and one touchdown. He accomplished this stat line with a whopping 20 targets from quarterback Jameis Winston.
Nabers was asked about his ridiculous target share postgame. "I'm surprised it was 20. [Actually] I can see how it was 20. A lot of go balls [against] cover zero, trying to get the ball out quick," Nabers said.
"Hey, I'll take it." Nabers has steadily increased his production since returning from last year's ACL injury in Week 1. In a win over the Arizona Cardinals last week, he had six catches for 112 yards and one touchdown on seven targets. Now 3-1-1, the Giants turn their attention toward a Week 6 matchup against the New Orleans Saints this coming Sunday.
