George has been married to makeup artist Doone Forsyth for nearly three years now, and they seem completely in love. The couple keeps a very low profile and—despite Doone being in the film industry herself—has never walked a red carpet or made many public appearances together.
Thanks to a few interviews George has done over the years, we do know a few things about their life together. Here’s everything to know about George’s partner Doone. Doone is a makeup artist who has worked in the film industry for over 10 years with projects including 1917, Downton Abbey, The Crown, and The Batman under her belt.
During a recent interview with The Telegraph, George opened up about his relationship with Doone, touching on how she supports him in his work. When asked if his family responsibilities dictate which roles he picks, he said, “Basically not. I try to keep the same intensity with work, but I have different responsibilities now, and everything moves and changes.
I try to always be clear and true in my film choices. And I am very lucky with my partner, in the way she supports me, in the attitude that we will make it work, whatever is required.” He added they make all their decisions for his projects together, especially when it involves deciding whether the family will need to move location for the role. The couple reportedly met while both working on the set of the Sam Mendes war movie 1917.
Though he had been acting since the early 2000s, 1917 was essentially George’s breakout role and saw him catapulted to fame for playing Lance Corporal Schofield. During an interview with The Times in 2023, it was confirmed the couple had two children, the eldest of whom was two years old and therefore most likely to have been born in 2021. During that same Times interview, which took place in November, it was confirmed the pair had welcomed a second child who was only two months old at the time of the interview.
George also revealed the family lived in east London and having two children had made him even more interested in exploring masculinity on screen. According to an Instagram post from the couple’s friend, the pair got married in November 2023.
