Some Israeli writers have gone further, suggesting that domestic political considerations may also be influencing the government's approach. With elections approaching, they argue that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could benefit politically from portraying Turkiye as a new external security threat. Such claims remain political interpretations rather than established facts.
The controversy comes as Syria seeks greater stability and closer ties with regional and Western partners. Washington, meanwhile, is attempting to prevent further escalation and has promoted mechanisms designed to reduce the risk of clashes among Israel, Turkiye and Syria. For Turkiye, the episode represents a significant shift in the regional security environment.
