Tyson Fury's nephew secured a gold medal at the Under-15 European Championships, where relatives of Daniel Dubois and Ricky Hatton also impressed. Shane Fury Jr was England Boxing's representative for the 70kg category in Trabzon, Turkey, where he received a bye into the quarter-finals before securing a split-decision win over Ukraine's Bohdan Moroz. Fury Jr advanced to the final by defeating Moldova's Dan Florea with a unanimous decision, then defeated Azerbaijan's Sarkhan Hakverdiyev via split decision to secure gold.
Reflecting on his nephew's success, the Gypsy King said on social media: "Get in there my Shane! He's done it - the European champion. "On his first international tournament, in the toughest tournament in the world, he brings back the gold medal.
"He deserves it, he's dedicated, he puts his life and soul into this sport. He is the only person who I know who doesn't care about anything else. He is 100 per cent on his boxing, and he's a lovely kid, as well.
"Wait until you get to see Shane Fury Jr and wait until you are introduced to the real Shane Fury Jr over the years. Next gen - let's go!" Fury's win was among multiple English successes during the tournament, with Bilal Iqbal beating Ukraine's Vitalii Arovych in the men's 75kg final, Millie Rolfe winning the women's 44kg final and Brogan Darrie claiming women's 40kg gold. John Fury, Shane's grandfather, added on social media: "You've amazed me - I'm so proud of you.
You dug in, knew what you had to do, fought a good southpaw, awkward kid and you got the job done. "I'm very proud of you - it's Fury DNA." Lola Hatton, the daughter of Matthew Hatton and niece of former world champion Ricky, won bronze at 60kg after losing her semi-final to Russia's Kristina Okhlopkova via split decision. Solomon Dubois, the younger brother of Daniel and Caroline Dubois, won silver in the 60kg division.
Dubois Jnr had won his first two bouts by unanimous decision and defeated Azerbaijan's Sunay Azimov 4-1 to reach the final, where he was beaten by the same margin by Russia's Mikhail Novikov.
