The New York Jets have now added another quarterback to their depth following their overtime collapse loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 2. According to The Ringer's Tom Pelissero, the Jets are signing former Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis to their practice squad. In addition, Pelissero reported that the Jets are releasing quarterback Bailey Zappe from their practice squad in a corresponding move.
Levis joining the Jets' practice squad comes after he was waived and then released by the Titans last month. Now, the 27-year-old will be looking to get his career on track after landing this new opportunity with the Jets. There is truly no harm in the Jets giving Levis the chance to be on their practice squad.
The 2023 second-round pick has had trouble breaking out in the NFL but is still young enough where he could change that. Now, he will be aiming to hit a new level after landing this golden opportunity with New York. Levis has appeared in 21 career NFL games over two seasons, where he has thrown 21 touchdowns, 16 interceptions, 3,899 passing yards, and completed 61% of his passes.
He last made an NFL regular season appearance back in 2024 with the Titans. This is because he missed all of last season after undergoing shoulder surgery. It will now be interesting to see what Levis can do with the Jets from here.
If he impresses on their practice squad, perhaps it could open the door for him to be elevated to their active roster.
