The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year shared a photo of his preparation materials for the upcoming Week 1 matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. The picture included the Vikings' depth chart, with the notable omission of quarterback JJ McCarthy.
Some fans saw this and accused Watt of leaking the Vikings' depth chart before the start of the 2026 season. Watt pushed back against this notion in the replies of his post. "Because this depth chart is currently just a placeholder until we get some real information next week.
He didn’t play in the final preseason game, which is around the time I was putting this together, so I slotted Wentz in there. This will all change by gameday," he wrote. The Vikings named Kyler Murray as their starting quarterback earlier this offseason.
When the team announced its 53-man roster this past weekend, McCarthy was the second name listed after Murray, followed by Carson Wentz and Max Brosmer. The Vikings' Week 1 matchup against the Packers will kick off at 4:25 p.m.
