Cam Skattebo took four carries for 19 yards in the New York Giants' preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings this past Saturday. In Week 8 of his rookie season with the Giants in 2025, Skattebo suffered a gruesome, season-ending leg injury that saw him sustain an ankle dislocation, open tibia fracture and ruptured deltoid ligament. Now, he's working his way back to full strength ahead of New York's 2026 campaign.
Giants head coach John Harbaugh is encouraged by Skattebo's preseason debut, but also acknowledged that his starting running back is not yet at 100%. "I don't think he's 100%. He would say he's not," Harbaugh said on Monday.
"But I got to see what you know about him already. I saw the foot quickness, the feel for the game, the explosiveness. It was good to watch him, good for me to see that." Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary and Eric Gray sit behind Skattebo on the Giants' running back depth chart.
New York also hosted veteran ball carrier Najee Harris for a free-agent workout on Monday. The Giants will take the field for their next preseason matchup against the Miami Dolphins this coming Saturday.
