The 2026-27 NFL season marks a new era for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, with the team's former offensive coordinator Joe Brady now at the helm as head coach. During the team's recent practice, the star quarterback weighed in on Brady's performance in his new coaching role thus far. "I think it's been pretty instant.
Once he stepped into the role, he became that. He really, truly embodied being the head coach and getting to know guys on the defensive side of the ball, special teams, and guys in the front office," Allen said during his Preseason Week 3 media session. "You have to wear a lot of hats as the head coach, and I think he's been doing a great job of handling everything, and at the same time, he's kept being the coach and football the number one priority in this building and getting guys to play at their best," he told reporters.

And last season, the Bills ranked fourth in the NFL with an average of 376.3 yards of offense per game. Brady received the promotion to head coach earlier this year after the Bills fired Sean McDermott in January.
McDermott had worked as the team's head coach since 2016, and Allen joined the league in 2018 when Buffalo selected him seventh in the NFL Draft. With Brady taking over a much bigger role, he's now having to become more familiar with the other parts of the roster beyond the offense, and based on Allen's comments, so far it's been a smooth transition. The main goal for a while has been for Allen to reach a Super Bowl, so time will tell if Brady can be the coach the superstar quarterback needed to finally accomplish that.
McDermott's final season with Allen featured a 12-5 record. While the Bills seemed capable of reaching the big game in the postseason, they once again fell short, losing in an AFC Divisional Round overtime thriller to the Denver Broncos.
