The Chiefs' trade for running back Kenneth Walker III is paying off really well so far this season.

It's no question that Kenneth Walker III is thriving with the Kansas City Chiefs so far. The trade from the Seattle Seahawks was arguably one of the best decisions the Chiefs has made in years. His addition is truly paying off.

Through four games, Walker's already rushed for 537 yards, which leads the NFL by over 100 yards. With this total, Walker officially broke the Chiefs' franchise record of the most rushing yards in the span of Week 1 to Week 4, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported. The Chiefs have been home to plenty of running back legends, so this is an incredible feat for the reigning Super Bowl MVP to achieve just weeks into being an official member of the Kansas City squad.

The last time any running back in the NFL hit this mark through the first four weeks of the season was in 2014 when DeMarco Murray recorded 534 yards. Coincidentally, Murray is the current Chiefs running backs coach. Walker will be one to watch this season to see if he will become the 10th running back in NFL history to surpass 2,000 rushing yards in a single season.

He is currently on track to break Eric Dickerson's single-season record of 2,105 yards in a year, too. Last season, Walker recorded 1,027 yards, and he's already over halfway to that total now. There's a great chance he'll hit his career-best.

Walker has now also won 14 games in a row as his streak dates back to Nov. 23 when he was with the Super Bowl winning Seahawks last season. The Chiefs remain undefeated this season at 4–0. Patrick Mahomes will undoubtedly continue to hand the ball over to Walker—this game plan is obviously working in the Chiefs' favor.

However, the team's run game may be highlighted more in the coming weeks as the Chiefs wait to hear about injuries of wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton, who both left Sunday's win over the Las Vegas Raiders early. The Chiefs are heading into their bye week, so they'll have extra rest before figuring out their receiver situation. Walker stepped up, per usual, in Sunday's game despite the various injuries suffered by Kansas City players.
