Fans got a look at something they never imagined Thursday night: LeBron James in a Sixers jersey. James made his official debut with the Philadelphia 76ers against the Brooklyn Nets, and for the most part looked good next to his new teammates. He played 18 minutes and finished with 10 points, banking in his first shot before going 8 for 8 from the free-throw line.
He also had a team-high five assists and four rebounds, all in the first half, though the 76ers fell 114-108 in Brooklyn. James spoke with reporters after the game and opened up about his first game as a Sixer. "Every day is getting better.
Obviously, I’m gonna have some days where days will be better than others. But I get to the facility when I’m on these guys, it definitely helps. We got good energy, good spirit, obviously the basketball game, what it brings to all of us is a sense of togetherness and fun.
It’s fun to go to work," James said. "When I’m around these guys, locker room, plane rides, practices, and the facility things, that definitely helps." The remaining minority probably won’t be convinced even if he wins three more championships in Philly.
Their minds are made up on the LeBron-MJ debate. But James signed with the 76ers because he clearly believes he has more to prove, even if it’s just to himself, and he has set his sights on winning an NBA title with this team. With this almost surely being his last ride, the fun aspect is an important one.

His agent, Rich Paul, said James’ decision would be about “fun” and “happiness,” which is why Golden State was floated to begin with, along with a homecoming to Cleveland. Still, James saying he’s already having fun going to work with his new 76ers teammates is a good sign of things to come.
