The Detroit Lions picked up an important 20-17 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. With this victory, the Lions are now ahead of the Packers in the very competitive NFC North with a 4-2 record. Now, with the trade deadline looming, it seems very likely that the Lions will be buyers.
Due to this, the Lions are being linked to a veteran cornerback from the Los Angeles Chargers. In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Alex Kay predicted that the Lions will acquire cornerback Donte Jackson from the Chargers in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick. With the Lions needing defensive help, it would be understandable if they brought in a player like Jackson.
He would have the potential to provide Detroit's roster with a bit of a boost. This is because he is a reliable veteran who is still capable of making a difference at this stage in his career. This trade would also be a low-risk move for the Lions if it came to fruition.
Giving up a sixth-round pick for a solid veteran like Jackson would not be expensive in the slightest, so it could be a move worth making for Detroit. In four games this season with the Chargers, Jackson has recorded eight tackles. This is after the 5-foot-10 cornerback posted four interceptions and 24 tackles in 17 games for the Chargers in 2025.
