The Detroit Lions will face off against the Washington Commanders in a preseason matchup on Saturday afternoon. When speaking to reporters on Thursday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell was asked about the team's plan for this game at the quarterback position. Campbell said veteran backup Joshua Dobbs will get the start for the Lions on Saturday.
However, undrafted rookie signal caller Luke Altmyer will receive equal reps as the next QB off the bench. Jared Goff will not take the field for any action against the Commanders. "Lions plan to start Josh Dobbs at QB Saturday vs.

Altmyer started and played about 2/3 of the offensive snaps in the Lions' preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. The former Ole Miss/Illinois quarterback completed 13 of his 22 pass attempts for 130 yards, one touchdowns and two interceptions in the 16-14 loss. Dobbs completed four of his eight pass attempts for 32 yards.
Saturday's game will kickoff at noon ET.
