Earlier this week, the New York Giants acquired quarterback J.J. McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick. The Giants bringing in McCarthy is not too difficult to understand, as quarterback Jaxson Dart is out long-term after undergoing knee surgery.
Now, as McCarthy adjusts to being on the Giants, one of his new teammates, wide receiver Malik Nabers, had some kind words to say about him. While speaking to reporters, Nabers expressed that he was impressed by McCarthy's arm and by how quickly he is learning the Giants' system. "Strong arm," Nabers said.
"He has a pretty good arm, strong arm. He's out there, you know, throwing touchy footballs. I feel like he has confidence out there, and he's targeting receivers pretty well." It is certainly encouraging to hear that McCarthy is leaving a good first impression with a key receiver like Nabers.
Now, McCarthy will be looking to make an impact once he officially makes his debut for the Giants. McCarthy was selected by the Vikings in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 10th overall. In 10 games last season for Minnesota, he threw 11 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and 1,632 yards.
He also completed 57.6% of his passes. It will now be intriguing to see what he can do after getting this fresh start with the Giants from here.
