Friday the 13th is kind of the original summer camp horror movie. While most camps are closing up shop for the winter, the Peacock series Crystal Lake is giving us the origin story of Camp Crystal Lake and the tragedies that lead to Friday the 13th and its many sequels. The new series features many of the characters you know and fear from the films, so let’s get to know the Crystal Lake cast and characters.
Did you know that Brad Kane, the Crystal Lake showrunner, is the speaking and singing voice of Disney’s Aladdin? Unfortunately, the likelihood of a musical episode seems pretty low. Kane is a writer and producer as well as an actor, obviously, who also had a hand in shows like Black Sails and It: Welcome to Derry…another horror movie prequel series!
However, franchise-wise, in its first season Crystal Lake already has more familiar names. Vorhees” is Jason’s mother. The character first appeared in Friday the 13th and has a storied history.
Linda Cardellini is, I think, best known for three different things: Freaks and Geeks, Scooby Doo, and Legally Blonde. There’s also ER, Bloodline, Mad Men, Dead to Me, Brokeback Mountain, A Simple Favor, and the MCU. Linda recently won an Emmy Award for her role in DTF St.
Levon is local law enforcement and a friend to Pamela. You know William Catlett from television shows like Black Lightning, Lovecraft Country, Constellation, True Story, Love Is, First, and The Guy. His film credits include Never Let Go, Abigail, and A Thousand and One.
Briana is Levon’s sister and a local journalist. Devin Kessler played Afeni Shakur on Godfather of Harlem, the MGM+ series that’s actually a prequel to the film American Gangster. Her resume also includes some short films and a few off-Broadway plays Officer Dorf is another character from the Friday the 13th franchise.
