Micah Parsons gave props to a former divisional rival after watching them beat his old team. The New York Giants opened the season with a 28-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Parsons, who has yet to begin his second season with the Green Bay Packers while recovering from a torn ACL, liked what he saw from Big Blue in John Harbaugh's first game as head coach.
"I'm not gonna lie, seeing Harbaugh football, that was really impressive to see," Parsons said on his The Edge podcast. "Watching football games, old Giants games, they had no true identity ... But you saw that game last night, you're like, the Giants are gonna be a really good team." Parsons noted that New York held Dallas to just two possessions in the second half.
The Giants controlled the ball for over 21 minutes on three drives spanning 37 plays behind Jaxson Dart. The All-Pro edge rusher thought Dart took a massive step to start his second NFL season. "I think Jaxson Dart has elevated his game, his control," Parsons said.
"He's showing people how smart he is. His intelligence at the line of scrimmage, commanding it. When you come from Year 1 where like, 'Oh, he can be real good' to seeing that on debut on Sunday Night Football, that was as damn good as I've seen in the NFL ...
To come in and display that as a young quarterback in this league, that was so good." Parsons also felt inspired watching his "little brother," wide receiver Malik Nabers, register 69 yards in his return from an ACL tear. "That was so beautiful to me," Parsons said. "I'm so happy for Malik, and I just thought it was the dopest thing in the world when Jaxson gave that game ball to Malik." On the other hand, Parsons warned critics not to overreact and dismiss the Cowboys after their Week 1 loss.
"There's so much football left," Parsons said. I think as the season goes on, I think they all will progress. Because they have too much talent for them not to progress."
