Former longtime Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is beginning his first NFL season as a TV personality, but he has now made it clear that he has not shut the door on coaching again in the future. While speaking with Cris Collinsworth, Tomlin was transparent about being open to the possibility of being an NFL coach again. "It’s certainly not a 32-team league for me, but I’ve also learned to never say never," Tomlin said.
I love all the challenges of the profession. I love to be a part of growth and development of young people individually. I love the measurement of the seven-day cycle, but also have enjoyed, man, the last six months life on this other side that I had no idea about." Hearing that Tomlin is not against coaching again in the future is certainly notable.
He had an excellent stint as the Steelers' head coach from 2007 to 2025, so he certainly has the potential to generate interest around the league whenever a job opens up. In 309 games as the Steelers' head coach, Tomlin had a 193-114-2 record. He also led Pittsburgh to a Super Bowl championship title in 2008 and never had a losing season during his time with the team.
It will now be interesting to see if Tomlin will land another coaching job in the NFL later down the road. However, for now, the 54-year-old will be starting his TV career.
