Mississippi State QB Kamario Taylor Vows to 'Ruin' LSU's Night

Mississippi State star Kamario Taylor wants to ruin LSU's night after a recruiting snub gave him a chip on his shoulder.

Mississippi State has been one of the biggest surprises of the 2026 college football season, with the Bulldogs sitting at 4-1 and ranked No. 16 in the AP Top 25. They've picked up wins over UL Monroe, Minnesota, South Carolina and Missouri before falling to Alabama in Week 5. Through it all, Kamario Taylor has looked like one of the best quarterbacks in the country.

He's completed 66.2% of his passes for 1,450 yards and 17 touchdowns with just four interceptions, while adding 159 rushing yards. Taylor has Mississippi State firmly in the early College Football Playoff conversation, something the program has never experienced in the playoff era. But Saturday brings another major test: a high-profile SEC clash against LSU in Baton Rouge.

While the Tigers enter as double-digit favorites, Taylor has made his intentions clear. "I'm trying to ruin their night," he told 247Sports. He received nearly a dozen scholarship offers, including ones from Mississippi State, UCF, Georgia, Missouri and Texas A&M. But Taylor has another reason to be motivated for Saturday's matchup. According to the quarterback, LSU recruited him as a safety rather than at the position he's now thriving in at another major SEC program.

LSU was also reportedly his favorite team growing up, making the perceived recruiting snub an added source of motivation heading into the showdown. Playing in Death Valley is never easy, but LSU has its own questions to answer. The Tigers are 4-2 under Lane Kiffin and coming off a heartbreaking 35-34 overtime loss to Kentucky.

They also fell to Kiffin's former team, Ole Miss, earlier in the season. Mississippi State knows what it's like to enter a game as the underdog, and LSU has already lost two games they were supposed to win. If Taylor can turn his extra motivation into another strong performance, the Bulldogs could make things uncomfortable for the Tigers.
