Nepal races to find missing amid threats of further flooding

Nepal raced to find thousands still missing as rising water levels and worsening weather threaten to hamper rescue efforts, five days after a glacial collapse unleashed catastrophic flooding along the border with China. More than 8,700 people have been rescued with almost 20,000 security personnel mobilized, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said on X. Six surgical teams are operating in affected areas, it said.

Rescue personnel and those providing relief services in regions surrounding the Bhote Koshi river’s path were told to exercise “utmost caution,” the agency said early Sunday.
