New Seahawks Owner Address Online Fan Concerns

New Seattle Seahawks owner Neal Khosla made a change to help fans after someone reached out to him on social media.

The Seattle Seahawks want to make sure their fan base is one of the better-informed during the NFL regular season. Last week, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald apologized to Sean Payton after he shared an extra detail with Graham Bensinger from the 2024 season that didn't paint the Denver Broncos head coach in a good light. On Friday, a Seahawks fan asked new Seattle owner Neal Khosla to find a way to have more beat reporters mic'd up for news conferences.

Some fans were having trouble hearing the questions being asked before team members provided an answer. On Tuesday, Khosla responded, saying the Seahawks plan to add two additional mics for their news conference on Wednesday. "Let us know if folks have feedback (positive or negative) on whether that fixes the problem." Many fans tune in after games to hear their favorite coaches and players explain what happened during the contest. Coaches often provide details on player injuries. Coaches also provide that information at press conferences during the week.

Understanding the context of a question can help fans better comprehend the coach's or player's answer. More teams with such communication issues should follow Khosla's lead. The news conference on Wednesday will come after Seattle lost its first contest of the regular season in a 33-31 defeat on the road to the previously winless Washington Commanders.

The Commanders had backup quarterback Marcus Mariota starting in the contest after Jayden Daniels suffered an elbow injury against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2. Sam Darnold made his first start for the Seahawks since suffering a soft-tissue glute injury in Week 1. He threw for 379 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions.

The Seahawks will look to get back to their winning ways when they host the 0-3 Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. For more on the Seahawks and the NFL, head to Newsweek Sports.
