Following the Cleveland Browns' 17-12 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, star linebacker Carson Schwesinger left the stadium in a walking boot. With Schwesinger being an incredibly important part of the Browns' defense, Cleveland fans have naturally been concerned about the severity of his injury. Yet, an update has now been provided on Schwesinger, and it appears that he has avoided the worst.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Schwesinger is believed to have suffered a Grade 1 ankle sprain and could still be available for the Browns' next game against the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 18. Hearing that Schwesinger's injury does not appear to be serious is certainly promising news for the Browns. It would be even better if he ends up being good enough to return to action for their game against the Ravens.
Schwesinger is currently in his second season with the Browns. In five games so far this campaign, the 23-year-old linebacker has recorded one sack, two quarterback hits, and 43 combined tackles. This is after he posted 2.5 sacks, nine quarterback hits, and 156 combined tackles in 16 games for Cleveland last season as a rookie.
