An NFL running back who recently won a Super Bowl appeared to announce his retirement on social media.

Longtime running back Myles Gaskin announced his retirement on Wednesday night. Gaskin posted a heartfelt message of gratitude on Instagram that appeared to confirm the end of his playing career. The 29-year-old spent seven seasons with four teams, most recently winning a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks.

"Thank you to all those who showed love and support both on and off the field," Gaskin wrote. "To the Miami Dolphins, boy was that fun. To the Seattle Seahawks, thank you for letting me play my last snaps back at the crib.

To the fans, you make this game special every Friday, Saturday, Sunday… Monday, Thursday -- really, every day, eight months out of the year." Gaskin played a major role for the Miami Dolphins as a seventh-round pick out of Washington. He tallied a career-high 972 scrimmage yards in just 10 games during his second season in 2020, and Gaskin followed that breakthrough by registering 846 yards and seven touchdowns the next year. However, Gaskin took a back seat under new head coach Mike McDaniel in 2022.

He received just 10 carries in four games before playing in three games without a touch for the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings in 2023. Gaskin spent most of 2024 on Minnesota's practice squad, collecting 10 yards in five games. He concluded his career by making one appearance for the Seahawks, turning three carries into six yards during a Week 13 win over the Vikings.

Gaskin thanked family, coaches, and teammates in a retirement post indicating that he may like to remain involved with football in some capacity. "Football … there will never be enough words to explain how I feel about you, so I won't even try," Gaskin wrote. "What I will do is give all the game you gave me to the next generation of young players who dare to be great.
