AJ Dybantsa scores a career-high 21 points in his third NBA game, helping the Wizards defeat the Magic 103-94.

Washington Wizards rookie AJ Dybantsa continues to show why he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The former BYU standout delivered the best scoring performance of his young professional career Monday night, finishing with a career-high 21 points in Washington's 103-94 road victory over the Orlando Magic. It marked the first 20-point game of Dybantsa's NBA career, an encouraging milestone for a player who has appeared in just three regular-season games.

Dybantsa added five rebounds, two assists and three steals while shooting 7 of 17 from the field and making all six of his free-throw attempts. The performance continued an impressive start for the rookie, who missed Washington's first four games after suffering an ankle injury during the preseason. He made his NBA debut against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 28, scoring 19 points in 27 minutes despite the Wizards falling 121-111.

Two days later, Dybantsa followed that performance with 17 points in a 95-79 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Monday's showing gave him at least 17 points in each of his first three NBA appearances. While Dybantsa's performance grabbed attention, he was far from the only Wizards player making an impact against Orlando.

Anthony Davis led Washington with 27 points and nine rebounds, while Kyshawn George added 22 points. Trae Young contributed 15 points and nine assists as the Wizards secured their second consecutive victory. Washington took control in the third quarter, holding Orlando to just nine points and building an 11-point advantage entering the fourth.

The Magic attempted to rally late, but Dybantsa helped put the game away with two transition baskets during the closing minutes. The victory improved Washington's record to 4-3 and marked the franchise's first road win in Orlando since December 2022. Dybantsa's early performances have offered a glimpse of why Washington made him the No. 1 overall pick, with his scoring ability, athleticism and defensive instincts already making an impact.

Although he's just three games into his NBA career, the rookie has shown he can contribute alongside established veterans while continuing to find his place in Washington's offense. The Wizards are still working to establish themselves as contenders in the Eastern Conference, but Dybantsa's emergence gives them something they haven't had in years: a potential franchise cornerstone capable of helping lead their next chapter.
