Oasis are expected to announce a new run of shows for 2027 today at 4pm… and fans will be hoping that the ticket sale is nothing like the debacle of 2025. The Manchester rock band found their long-awaited reunion tour the subject of unwanted attention after fans were hit with inflated ticket prices for their UK and Ireland shows. When tickets for Oasis Live ‘25 were released, many fans were shocked at having to pay more than double face value, as some standard standing tickets were sold for £355 instead of the expected £148.
Some fans forked out thousands of pounds to see brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher onstage together for the first time since 2009. Ticketing company Ticketmaster was accused of using dynamic pricing, an algorithmic strategy where prices surge in response to higher demand – while low demand can also lead to lower prices. While the UK’s competition watchdog, the Competition and Markets Authority, did not find evidence that Ticketmaster used dynamic pricing, it concluded the company did not inform fans that standing tickets would be sold at two different prices, and that prices would go up as soon as the cheaper tickets sold out.
Following an investigation, Ticketmaster agreed in September last year that it would provide fans with considerably more information before and during their purchase of concert tickets. Elsewhere, other fans were devastated after the company cancelled their tickets, having reportedly mistook them for bots. Fans spoke of having their “dreams crushed” after receiving emails from the ticket-selling website informing them that their tickets to the rock band’s reunion shows were void. Should the band confirm a new tour will take place next year, there is a strong chance that their team and Ticketmaster will have taken steps to avoid repeating the 2024 controversy.
Pop star Harry Styles recently added the final 25 dates to his Together, Together world tour, for which he is introducing “unpredictable fun” tickets where a limited number of £20 (or $20 / 20 euros) tickets will be made available. This announcement landed after criticism from some of his fans over the ticket prices for the earlier dates, which in the UK ranged between £44.10 to £466.24 for seated tickets at Wembley, and standing prices between £144.65 to £279.45. VIP packages range from £468.85 to £725.45.
There is an ongoing debate surrounding what constitutes fair prices for fans in the current economy, amid a worrying trend in which a number of major artists have cancelled their tours – reportedly due to low ticket sales. Oasis will certainly not face this issue – their 2025 tour was one of the most in-demand in recent memory, with tickets selling out within minutes of going on sale and generating millions in revenue. Oasis Live ‘25 was estimated by Forbes to have generated over $400m (£293m) in revenue, with Noel and Liam each pocketing between $50m-$100m.
