Potentially disruptive weather could complicate journeys in parts of the country over Thanksgiving, says the publication.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac long-range weather outlook for November provides a breakdown of weather conditions expected across the U.S. in the coming month. Millions of Americans are expected to travel for Thanksgiving on November 26, but potentially disruptive weather could complicate journeys in some parts of the country, according to the forecast. "Overall, of most concern will be a snowstorm that we are forecasting to occur in the northern part of the Atlantic Corridor, with snow extending into the Northeast, in the days following the Thanksgiving holiday," Heidi Stonehill, executive editor at The Old Farmer’s Almanac, told Newsweek.

"Also, there may be heavy rain at times in the Pacific Northwest over Thanksgiving week." The publication’s long-range forecast predicts broad weather trends across different regions of the country rather than day-to-day conditions. The Old Farmer’s Almanac says its forecasts combine solar science, climatology and meteorology. It also says it considers climate data and large-scale signals such as El Niño.

Below is a regional overview of what conditions are likely during November, according to the Almanac: Snow showers in the north and sunshine in the south are expected at the start of the month, accompanied by cold temperatures, before a milder but rainy spell arrives from November 8-14. November 15-24 is forecast to bring rain and snow showers with chillier temperatures, before the month closes with rain showers followed by snow. November 1-13 is expected to feature sunshine followed by rain, along with cool conditions.

Sunshine could then return through November 23 before rain reappears from November 24-27. The final days of the month are forecast to feature a snowstorm in the north, while the south stays sunny. In its forecast for the Appalachians, the Old Farmer’s Almanac said November 1-5 should be warm and sunny, before showers and cooler conditions develop November 6-10.

Sunny and warm conditions return November 11-15 according to the publication. Snow showers are expected in the north and rain in the south between November 16 and 25, before the month ends with sunshine giving way to flurries in northern areas. The first eight days of November could feature sunshine in the north but showers in the south, with cool conditions, according to the Almanac.

November 9-13 is forecast to bring isolated showers and warm temperatures. November 14-22 will be sunny but "very cold" to begin, before warmer conditions develop, it said. Showers arrive November 23-27 alongside warmth before sunny conditions and cool temperatures close the month, according to the Almanac.
