In the fallout of the NBA's record salary cap circumvention punishment of the Los Angeles Clippers and owner Steve Ballmer, journalist Pablo Torre and his show, "Pablo Torre Finds Out," have developed an intimidating reputation. Unfortunately for fans of the defending NBA champions, many of Torre's listeners believe they could be next. Jalen Brunson, point guard for the New York Knicks, notably took a huge pay cut to stay with the team.
It's an eye-popping sum that has many suggesting Brunson must be getting paid that money elsewhere — perhaps, even outside of the salary cap like the Clippers did with star player Kawhi Leonard. Fortunately for Knicks fans, while Torre has admitted that he's considered looking into Brunson, it doesn't sound like he'll be the focus of any investigations in the near future. Even Rick Brunson [a basketball coach and Jalen Brunson's father] reached out to me being like, ‘What are you up to?!’” To be clear, Torre said he's not “sitting on some investigation” into Brunson, but it seems another prominent sports team should be concerned.
Torre's show posted to social media Thursday afternoon an image of the Los Angeles Dodgers, including embattled team owner Mark Watler, presenting a jersey to President Donald Trump when celebrating their 2025 World Series title earlier this summer. Tomorrow," the post was captioned. Given what Torre discovered about the Clippers, that may be the new scariest phrase in sports.
