Packers Coach Matt LaFleur Gives Latest Micah Parsons Injury Update

The Packers were originally expecting Parsons to be ready for Week 6, but it's unclear when he'll be cleared to play.

Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons was originally expected to make his 2026 season debut in Week 6 after his long journey from tearing his ACL and meniscus last year in Week 15. However, Parsons didn't compete in Sunday night's matchup against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, and it seems that he won't be available to play any time soon. Packers coach Matt LaFleur told reporters on Monday that Parsons will not practice this week, meaning he won't be ready to go for Week 7's game versus the Detroit Lions, an NFC North rival for Green Bay.

"He's got to clear some hurdles yet to get to that point," LaFleur said. The Packers will have to open Parsons's 21-day practice window before fans can even expect him to get close to playing. This doesn't come as a huge surprise after NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported over the weekend that Parsons isn't expected to return to the field until Week 9 against the New England Patriots on Nov. 8 at the earliest.

But, there's a good chance the Packers will hold him out until after their bye week, which will be in Week 11. That would mean Parsons could wait to make his season debut until the Thanksgiving eve game against the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Waiting another month-plus for Parsons's debut would not be ideal for the Packers.

Green Bay traded for Parsons last season, and so far, they've only had him play in 14 games across the two seasons. The team is still waiting to reap the full benefits of acquiring Parsons. It's unclear what the hold-up is for Parsons, but he hasn't been medically cleared yet.
