Packers Linked to Pro Bowl RB to Replace Josh Jacobs

The Green Bay Packers are being linked to Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard with Josh Jacobs still unavailable.

After starting the season with a 1-2 record, the Green Bay Packers have responded by winning each of their last two games. The Packers' most recent win was impressive, too, as they defeated the Chicago Bears by a 31-7 final score. With it, the Packers now have a 3-2 record and are tied with the Detroit Lions and Bears in the NFC North.

With the NFC North being very competitive, the Packers should surely be looking to add to their roster ahead of the trade deadline. They certainly should be looking to add another running back, as Josh Jacobs is still on the NFL's Commissioner's Exempt List, and there is no timeline for when he might return for Green Bay. Due to this, the Packers are now being linked to a former Pro Bowl running back.

In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Kristopher Knox named the Packers among the top potential suitors for Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard. "The Titans are playing for their future, and the 29-year-old isn't likely to be a part of it. He's set to be a free agent in the spring, and trading him would save $7.3 million in cap space.

Trading Pollard would also likely bring back additional draft capital," Knox wrote. "Potential Suitors: Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers." Seeing the Packers be named a potential suitor for Pollard is easy to understand. Their running game has been very poor with Jacobs not eligible to play.

Thus, it would make a lot of sense if they took a chance on an impactful veteran running back like Pollard. In five games this season with the Titans, Pollard has recorded one touchdown, 68 rushes, and 272 rushing yards. He has also recorded over 1,000 rushing yards in each of his last four seasons.

With this, he would have the potential to boost the Packers' offense nicely if acquired.
