The NFL removed Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs from the Commissioner Exempt List, effective Monday, making him eligible to return to the field for Sunday's Week 7 matchup against the division-rival Detroit Lions. Jacobs, who was arrested in May following a domestic disturbance, was originally placed on the Commissioner Exempt List before the 2026 season on Aug. 30. While Jacobs is now eligible to return to the roster, the NFL's investigation under the league's Personal Conduct Policy is still underway.
The NFL released a public statement following this move: "The National Football League today notified Josh Jacobs of the Green Bay Packers that he will be removed from the Commissioner Exempt List on Oct. 19. He will be eligible to play in the Packers' Week 7 game on Oct. 25 after missing six games. "The NFL initiated an investigation under the Personal Conduct Policy following Jacobs' arrest in May.
The league's review remains ongoing and is not affected by this change to Jacobs' roster status." Without Jacobs through the first five games of the 2026 season, the Packers rank dead last in rushing yards per game with 60.4. MarShawn Lloyd has just 112 rushing yards on the season, followed by Kaleb Johnson with 106. The Packers will face off against the Dallas Cowboys in a primetime "Sunday Night Football" matchup in Week 6.
