The Green Bay Packers offensive line was hit with injuries during their Week 2 20-17 win over the New York Jets in overtime that prompted the team to consider a bold move during the game. The Packers offensive line will be shorthanded when they play the Atlanta Falcons "Thursday Night Football" in Week 3 after losing right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele to a season-ending knee injury against the Jets. During the Week 2 contest, Green Bay had four offensive linemen leave the game at different points.
Per ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Packers considered moving tight end Tucker Kraft to the offensive line against the Jets. Green Bay faces a challenge in finding a starting five for its contest on Thursday night. "At one point the coaches were talking about using tight end Tucker Kraft at one of the offensive line positions," Graziano wrote.
"On a short week with a Thursday night game, Matt LaFleur and the Packers are going to have a hard time coming up with a line combination that helps get the moribund running game going against the Falcons." The Packers offense struggled against the Jets defense amid the injuries. Green Bay rushed for just 63 yards on 18 carries in Week 2.
Quarterback Jordan Love was limited to 145 yards passing and two touchdowns. He took three sacks for -9 yards. On Wednesday, the Packers ruled out offensive guard Aaron Banks, who is dealing with a knee/toe issue, for their game against the Falcons.
Offensive lineman Donovan Jennings is battling a hand issue and was marked as a limited participant for Tuesday and Wednesday after being a non-participant at Monday's practice.
