A.J. Brown missed Patriots practice Wednesday. Mike Vrabel addressed the receiver’s status before Sunday’s Packers game.

Brown missed practice Wednesday with an ankle/knee injury as the Patriots (5-3) began preparing to host the Green Bay Packers. Head coach Mike Vrabel was asked whether a stint on injured reserve was a possibility for Brown. He limited his answer to the receiver’s status for Wednesday.

Brown did not practice Wednesday because of ankle and knee injuries. Asked about his concern with Brown’s knee, Vrabel turned to the team’s preparation for Green Bay and carrying over its second-half performance against Miami. Brown has caught nine passes for 101 yards without a touchdown in three games this season.

He had three catches in each appearance, including 48 receiving yards against Chicago in his most recent game. New England beat the New York Jets 26-19 in Week 6 before losing 30-24 at Chicago the following week. Brown did not play in Sunday’s 24-19 win over Miami.

The Patriots acquired Brown from Philadelphia Eagles on June 1 for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. He finished his final Eagles season with 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. Brown’s arrival reunited him with Vrabel, his head coach during his first three NFL seasons in Tennessee.

The Titans selected Brown in the second round of the 2019 draft. Wednesday’s report also listed wide receiver Mack Hollins and offensive lineman Greg Van Roten as limited participants. Quarterback Drake Maye was a full participant with a right shoulder designation.

New England returns home after two consecutive road games. The Patriots host the Packers (5-3) on Sunday at Gillette Stadium.
