Police have named a 36-year-old man as a suspect in the killings of five people whose bodies, alongside those of several pets, were found at a "complex" scene at a rural property in Oregon on Saturday. Officers from the Enumclaw Police Department discovered the suspect, Benjamin Charles Parker, dead inside his vehicle in Washington state on Sunday. The five bodies were discovered at a rural property near Forest Grove, about 30 miles west of downtown Portland, after a 911 caller reported a vehicle fire near 47350 NW Otis Lane about 5:27 a.m. on Saturday.
Fire personnel who responded discovered human remains and requested assistance from sheriff’s deputies. The five victims had not been publicly identified by early Monday morning. Sheriff Caprice Massey told reporters on Sunday that she had never seen a “scene quite this complex.” "I will say that in my 22 years here, I have not been a part of, or witnessed, a scene quite this complex involving this type of investigation.
I'm just going to begin by saying that I recognize this incident is deeply concerning to our community. Our investigators are working to determine what happened, and we have dedicated every available resource to this case," she said. Washington County Sheriff’s Office does not believe there is any active danger to the public, Caprice said.
