Raiders HC Klint Kubiak Responds to Backlash Over Brock Bowers Statement

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak responded to the backlash from his previous statement about Brock Bowers' injury.

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers underwent a meniscus trimming procedure on Tuesday, addressing an injury he suffered sometime during training camp. The injury was diagnosed and the surgery was scheduled sometime last week, but the public had limited knowledge of the issue. On Wednesday, a report from NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport revealed that Bowers will miss "a game or two" following this procedure.

The superstar tight end has since been ruled out for Sunday's Week 1 clash against the Miami Dolphins. Just hours before this report emerged, Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak told reporters that he expected all of his players to be good to go for Week 1. Many fans and analysts were upset by this statement, accusing the first-year HC of lying about Bowers' injury status.

Kubiak addressed this backlash when speaking to reporters on Friday. "I was optimistic early that Brock would be able to go, he's not. We'll get him back soon," Kubiak said to open up his press conference.

Sunday's Raiders-Dolphins matchup will kickoff at 4:25 p.m.
