Raiders HC Klint Kubiak Shuts Down Ashton Jeanty Rumors Before Week 6 vs Bills

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak dismissed the rumors about running back Ashton Jeanty on Wednesday.

It was reported on Wednesday that the Las Vegas Raiders were considering giving running back Ashton Jeanty a week off at some point to heal from his nagging ankle and foot injuries. Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak was asked about that possibility on Wednesday afternoon and shut down the idea. Jeanty began his second season this fall on a high note, recording 102 rushing yards on 23 carries, as well as six receptions for 45 yards and two touchdowns in the team's Week 1 win versus the Miami Dolphins.

He hasn't surpassed 58 yards on the ground in any of the last four games though and hasn't hit paydirt since the season-opener. Jeanty was listed as questionable before the team's Week 5 blowout loss against the New England Patriots and ultimately posted just 27 rushing yards on 10 carries and three catches for 50 yards. Elsewhere on the Raiders offense, Kubiak said on Monday that veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins will remain as the starter for Week 6 versus the Buffalo Bills, despite rookie No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza's solid NFL debut in Week 5.

It appears for now that Jeanty will continue joining Cousins in the Las Vegas backfield.
