The Texas Rangers have made a roster move, as they designated veteran catcher Austin Wynns for assignment.

The Rangers have announced that they have designated catcher Austin Wynns for assignment. In addition, the Rangers also shared that catcher Danny Jansen has been activated off the 60-day injured list. Wynns appeared in 14 games this season with the Rangers before being designated for assignment, where he recorded one home run, one RBI, and a .276 batting average.

He also had stints with the Athletics and Atlanta Braves earlier this season, so it has been a busy year for the veteran catcher. Teams that need more catching depth could consider taking a flier on Wynns now that he has been designated for assignment by the Rangers. He has a good amount of MLB experience and could be a solid player for another team to have around as insurance if injuries arise.

In 312 career MLB games over eight seasons split between the Baltimore Orioles, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, Cincinnati Reds, Athletics, Braves, and Rangers, Wynns has posted 20 home runs, 32 doubles, 85 RBI, and a .230 batting average. It will be interesting to see if he gets the chance to build on these career stats with another team before the season is over.
