After 18 seasons, 12 playoff appearances, six division titles, and one Super Bowl championship, the Baltimore Ravens decided it was finally time to move on from head coach John Harbaugh. He wasn’t unemployed long, however, as Harbaugh landed on his feet as the new head coach of the New York Giants shortly after his release. As it turns out, not everyone was thriving under the Harbaugh regime in Baltimore, as players have taken subtle shots at their former head coach all offseason.
Wide receiver Rashod Bateman is the latest to do so, offering a brutal critique of Harbaugh while praising the Ravens’ new coaching staff, led by head coach Jesse Minter. All-Pro left tackle Ronnie Stanley also made it a point to acknowledge Minter and his staff being so detail-oriented. Having two former players point out that his successor pays more attention to details than he did surely won't sit well with Harbaugh, who prides himself on his preparation.
Though Harbaugh has been scapegoated in the media this offseason following his exit from Baltimore, it’s evident not every current or former Ravens player had disdain for him. In fact, several Ravens players including tight end Isaiah Likely, Pro Bowl fullback Patrick Ricard, All-Pro punter Jordan Stout, cornerback Ar’Darius Washington, and offensive lineman Daniel Faalele, who was since traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars, all followed Harbaugh to the Giants.
