The Colorado Rockies have made a roster move, as they have designated pitcher Michael Lorenzen for assignment.

The Colorado Rockies are parting ways with one of their veteran pitchers. The Rockies have announced that they have designated pitcher Michael Lorenzen for assignment. In addition, the Rockies shared that they have recalled pitcher TJ Shook from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Seeing Lorenzen get designated for assignment by the Rockies is not necessarily surprising. He struggled this season with Colorado, as he has a 3-11 record and a 7.08 ERA in 26 appearances. This is after he had a 7-11 record, a 4.64 ERA, and 127 strikeouts during the 2025 season with the Kansas City Royals.

While Lorenzen has struggled this season, it is possible that he could generate some interest if he hits the free agent market. The 12-year MLB veteran was an All-Star during the 2023 season and also had a 3.81 ERA in 19 appearances just back in 2024. With that, it will be interesting to see if another team takes a chance on him.

In 421 career MLB games split between the Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Angels, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, Royals, and Rockies, Lorenzen has posted a 57-66 record, a 4.40 ERA, and 908 strikeouts.
