Roger Goodell Responds to NFLPA’s Request to Investigate Jalen Hurts Situation

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell responded to the request from the NFLPA involving the investigation of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Last week, the Philadelphia Eagles ruled quarterback Jalen Hurts out for the remainder of the season after doctors found multiple blood clots in his lungs. Eagles medical personnel first discovered a superficial blood clot on Hurts' calf before the team's Week 5 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. However, the veteran quarterback was somehow cleared to play in that international contest.

Earlier this week, reports indicated that the Eagles will not receive any punishment as the NFL ruled they handled the situation properly. In response to these reports, the NFL Players Association called for a "full investigation." "The NFLPA is not aware of any NFL investigation into the medical care provided to Jalen Hurts. In fact, the league previously informed the union that it did not plan to review the care he received," the NFLPA said in a statement.

"Before conclusions are drawn about how this situation was handled, there must be a full investigation into what occurred. Determining the facts is essential to ensuring players receive the highest level of care and protection going forward." NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was asked about this request when speaking with reporters on Wednesday. "We welcome that," Goodell replied.

"That's part of our process. Our chiefs medical officer has been through the protocols that were followed. If that's what they did, they have that right." The Eagles, now led by quarterback Tanner McKee, will face off against the Dallas Cowboys in a "Monday Night Football" matchup in Week 7.
