The Seattle Seahawks were able to mount a comeback in Week 1 to beat the New England Patriots 13-10 on Wednesday night with backup quarterback Drew Lock coming in to replace an injured Sam Darnold. Darnold exited the contest after the first drive. Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Darnold could miss between four to six weeks, though surgery is not anticipated at this point.
"The current expectation, however, is not for a quick return," Florio wrote. "Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Darnold could miss four to six weeks... Surgery is not anticipated.

Glazer described the injury as a glute issue. "Initially, they actually thought he fractured that hip socket, which would have put him out for the year.
Instead, there is a tendon injury in the glute. They’re still trying to gather information," Glazer said. Darnold was key to the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl in February.
He threw for 4,048 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in his first season in Seattle in 2025. Lock has been with Seattle since 2025. The veteran quarterback went 16 of 22 passing for 187 yards and one touchdown in the Seahawks’ win on Wednesday night.
With Darnold out, the Seahawks will need their championship-caliber defense to carry the team. A timeline of six weeks would mean Darnold would be out for approximately a third of the regular season. The Seahawks will travel to play the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.
