The Pittsburgh Steelers somehow found themselves punting on 4th-and-43 on Sunday. Aaron Rodgers was looking to get his team on the board as he led the offense into field goal range before lining up for a 3rd-and-7 at the NE 22 -- where he was rudely introduced to New England Patriots linebacker Christian Elliss. Elliss absolutely crushed Rodgers, forcing a fumble that was then kicked around for nine seconds and traveled backwards nearly half the distance of the field.
Dre'Mont Jones, Rico Dowdle, Charles Woods, DK Metcalf, Christian Gonzalez, and Milton Williams all had an opportunity to recover the fumble but failed until it was finally fallen on by Troy Fautanu -- ending the latest episode of "Keystone Cops." 3rd-and-7 to 4th-and-43. The Steelers offense wasn't able to get much of anything going during the first half, ending with 3 points, 126 total yards, and 3-for-9 on third- and fourth-down conversion attempts. Rodgers did survive the hit, coming back out for the following drive.
Jones and Dowdle didn't last after the ensuing chaos, however, with both immediately heading to the locker room with ankle injuries. Mike Onwenu, Marcus Jones, Eli Raridon, and Dell Pettus all left the game at some point for New England. Jaquan Brisker left for Pittsburgh in a hard-hitting affair.
